YU: After my sophomore year, I was applying to a whole bunch of jobs on the career website, and I ran into INROADS. It's a company that connects students and help prep them for the professional world.

YU: These students, like me, may not have the same opportunities as other people. They help prep us for what professionalism looks like: how to speak, how to create a professional presentation. So then we can start at the same level as everyone else.

PEGGI: INROADS has been a great partner to us since 1999.

PEGGI: The mission of their organization is to help underserved college students in career preparation, career guidance counseling, and most importantly, access to top companies, such as United.

PEGGI: Our INROADS interns participate in the functional intern program that they're aligned to for their degree, such as finance and accounting.
YU: I think it's very important for INROADS and UnitedHealth to have this partnership.

YU: Being able to walk in a room and see people who may even look like me help create an equal system where everybody can climb up in the professional world.

YU: It means a lot to me that I have all of these connections. Each connection, I believe, opens a doorway to multiple opportunities.

PEGGI: My goal is that, at the end of their internship, they're telling all of their friends and family that, "This company is saving lives, and I want to be a part of it."

PEGGI: We find that when we bring people in from the college source, they perform at a very high level, they stay with us for a long time, and they have great upward mobility.
