A drug list is the medications your health plan covers and how you share in the cost.

Health plans typically revise a drug list – or drug formulary – twice a year.

Medication lists break drugs into tiers – with each having a certain payment level.

Let’s look at each tier…

Tier I

These are the lowest cost, mainly generics and some brand names.

Tier II

A mix of generic and brand name medications, with a mid-range of cost.

Tier III

These are the highest cost, mostly brand-name drugs.
