The goal of value-based care (VBC) is simple: align health care payments with value by using incentives to reduce spending and increase quality. But it has been difficult to draw lessons learned and best practices for care providers because most research has looked at these incentives separately – until now. Researchers at Harvard found that non-financial incentives, known as infrastructure supports, play just as critical a role as the traditional financial incentives when designing effective VBC programs.
