Walking the walk for heart health.
Each year, the Twin Cities Heart Walk raises millions of dollars for heart health while promoting fun ways to be physically active and make healthier lifestyle choices. Given our interest in community health, it’s no surprise that last year, more than 2,100 UnitedHealthcare employees on 69 teams helped raise more than $500,000 for the American Heart Association. This was the most money raised by any Minnesota company for the third year in a row. This year, our goals are to exceed 2,300 walkers, increase our donations to $600,000 and maintain our #1 ranking.
Souper Bowl victory over hunger.
The week before the big game, UnitedHealthcare employees predicted who would win by placing donations of soup in the box of their favorite team — the Philadelphia Eagles or the New England Patriots. While the Patriots received more votes, the true winners were our hungry neighbors — who received hundreds of cans of soup. The soup drive was held to support United Health Foundation’s $50,000 donation to the Legacy Fund, a nonprofit dedicated to improving the health and wellness of children in Minnesota.
