What is a DSNP?
It’s a Dual Special Needs Plan. This is a special type of Medicare Advantage plan for people who also can get Medicaid.
Why should someone think about a DSNP?
What’s great about a DSNP is that it has benefits that you can’t get with Medicare or Medicaid alone. Let’s say you already have Medicare benefits. If you’re on a DSNP, you may be able to get dental, hearing and vision benefits as well.
You can get help for coordinating benefits. This can make your health care easier.
Lastly, there’s usually no monthly premium. So it’s worth seeing if it’s a good fit.
Who can get a DSNP plan?
You have to be able to get both Medicare and Medicaid.
When can people apply?
You can enroll when it’s best for you this year. Next year, people who can get a DSNP can enroll or switch at certain times throughout the year.
