Choosing a Doctor

Choosing a new doctor can be tough. You want to find someone you can trust, who makes you feel comfortable and who provides quality care. The convenience of the office location and hours can be important factors too.

One great way to start your search is to ask for recommendations from family, friends or coworkers. Then check to see if those doctors are in your health plan’s network and whether they are accepting new patients. Choosing a doctor that’s in your plan’s network will save you money.

But what if you’ve recently moved to a new city and don’t have access to recommendations? You can always search your plan’s provider network to find a doctor in your area. Some additional research online or over the phone will help you learn more about the doctor’s background, education and policies.
