UnitedHealthcare Offers Member Resources to Support Hartford HealthCare-Related Questions

HARTFORD, CT (March 24, 2017) – UnitedHealthcare is working with Hartford HealthCare/Integrated Care Partners to renew their participation in UnitedHealthcare’s network for employer-sponsored, individual and Medicare health plans. Their current contract is active until April 15, 2017, and until that time there is no change in members’ access to Hartford HealthCare physicians and facilities.

Our two organizations continue to meet regularly and engage in good faith negotiations. Letters were mailed in mid-March as part of the 30-day notification requirement to ensure individuals are aware of the negotiations.

Following is some important information for Medicare Members:

  • UnitedHealthcare Medicare Supplement plan members can see any provider who accepts Medicare patients, so they will not be impacted by this change.
  • Most Employer-Group Medicare Advantage PPO plan members can see any provider who accepts Medicare for the same cost, regardless of whether that provider is in or out of network.
  • Medicare Advantage plan members who have out-of-network benefits could continue using Hartford HealthCare physicians and facilities, but may experience higher out-of-pocket costs for their care.
  • Medicare Advantage plan members who do not have out-of-network benefits can call the number on their health plan ID card if they need help selecting a new in-network care provider or applying for Continuity of Care.

UnitedHealthcare members who have questions are encouraged to contact us by calling the toll-free number on their health plan ID card or visit UnitedHealthcare’s website for additional information
